Should the transport provider always be accompanied with a PST store provider or it can work without the PST file? For example, showing the items from the mail server directly instead of archiving them in the PST file.

There has to be a store provider somewhere or you can't display anything. Even when connecting to Exchange in online mode, where nothing at all is kept client side, there's still a store provider that Outlook uses to get data from the mailbox.

I don't know exactly which parts of the samples I should modify or develop for my purpose which is showing some mails in the database inside outlook. These are some of my questions:

1- Where should the 3rd party authentication be done. (on store provider or transport provider? IMSProvider::Logon or IMSProvider::SpoolerLogon? )
2- Should I have mapping for the messages on the third party database? ( Is it done with IMAPITable?)
